Millimetre-resolution mapping of citrate exuded from soil-grown roots using a novel, low-invasive sampling technique

چکیده
Abstract The reliable sampling of root exudates in soil-grown plants is experimentally challenging. This study aimed at developing a citrate and mapping technique with millimetre-resolution using DGT (diffusive gradients thin films) ZrOH-binding gels. Citrate adsorption kinetics, capacity, stability ZrOH gels were evaluated. applied to generate 2D maps exuded by white lupin roots grown rhizotron phosphorus-deficient soil. was adsorbed quantitatively rapidly the gels; these can be stored after for several weeks prior analysis. capacity gel depends on ionic strength pH soil solution, but suitable sampling. We generated first time rhizotron-grown millimetre resolution measure an illustrated plant response phosphorus fertilization, demonstrating that DGT-based studying exudation environments, high spatial resolution. change binding material would also allow other exudate classes profiles entire systems. These aspects are crucial cultivar breeding selection.

A novel non-invasive diagnostic sampling technique for cutaneous leishmaniasis
Accurate diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is important for chemotherapy and epidemiological studies. Common approaches for Leishmania detection involve the invasive collection of specimens for direct identification of amastigotes by microscopy and the culturing of promastigotes from infected tissues. Although these techniques are highly specific, they require highly skilled health work...
متن کاملHigh resolution soil moisture mapping
Soil moisture information is of critical importance to real-world applications such as agriculture, water resource management, flood, fire and landslide prediction, mobility, soil hydraulic parameter estimation etc. Many of these applications require soil moisture information at high resolution. While this may be estimated from land surface models, the predictions are often poor due to inadequa...
متن کاملTowards a minimally invasive sampling tool for high resolution tissue analytical mapping.
Multiple spatial mapping techniques of biological tissues have been proposed over the years, but all present limitations either in terms of resolution, analytical capacity or invasiveness. Ren et al (2015 Nanotechnology 26 284001) propose in their most recent work the use of a picosecond infrared laser (PIRL) under conditions of ultrafast desorption by impulsive vibrational excitation (DIVE) to...
متن کاملInvasive Species Spread Mapping Using Multi-resolution Remote Sensing Data
The invasions of non-native species of vegetation pose significant threats to natural environments at all geographical scales. Saltcedar has been commonly treated as one of the several most threatening invasive species in U.S. in the next ten years. The spatial extent and density of infestation by saltcedar in the Rio Grande floodplain has been poorly understood in the past. Remote sensing prov...
متن کاملOptimization of a Novel Non-invasive Oral Sampling Technique for Zoonotic Pathogen Surveillance in Nonhuman Primates
Free-ranging nonhuman primates are frequent sources of zoonotic pathogens due to their physiologic similarity and in many tropical regions, close contact with humans. Many high-risk disease transmission interfaces have not been monitored for zoonotic pathogens due to difficulties inherent to invasive sampling of free-ranging wildlife. Non-invasive surveillance of nonhuman primates for pathogens...
